I am a mom and wife in southern California. My mathematician husband and I are trying to wrangle three very loud children into their growing-up selves. I picked up my camera and set out to learn the art of photography to capture their childhood. I wanted photos that show what it feels like to be a child including the rewarding, difficult, beautiful and gross parts.

Photography, for me, is capturing the fleeting and sweet details that define childhood. Laughing with siblings. Loving a stuffed animal until it pops its seams. Spinning in the dying sunlight because it's "past your bedtime."

There are often moments in childhood of heart-breaking tenderness amidst the craziness if only we adults are paying attention. Being a photographer is training me to find and cherish those moments.

Let's go find those moments together.
